Continue reading here to learn what swimming in dirty Bay water mean for your family.

Water testing is done on individual beaches from Memorial Day through Labor Day. To learn the results of beach water testing by county go to the following websites:

Anne Arundel County: aahealth.org/wqleadin.asp

Baltimore County: http://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/environment/environmentalhealth/watersampling/alertadvisory.html

Calvert County: calverthealth.org/community/environmentalhealthservices/beaches.htm

Cecil County: cecilcountyhealth.org/ccdhxx/ccdhBeaches.asp

Kent County: http://kenthd.org/pdf/Env%20Health/BeachAdvisories.pdf

St. Mary's County: smchd.org/smchdbeachqualitymonitoring.htm

Somerset County: somersethd.org/envhealth/environ.htm

Worcester County: worcesterhealth.org/environmentalhealth.php

Not all counties update their websites with the results of water testing or have the information readily available for the public. Other groups have stepped in to provide you with beach water quality results.

Check the status of your favorite beach using Google’s Earth Beach Notification System which provides updates, advisories and closing information on every beach in Maryland. It’s a free application available at:  http://www.marylandhealthybeaches.org/current_conditions.html

Or Call the Maryland State beach conditions hotline 410-632-1200 ext. 166 (or 167)
