Chesapeake Bay Foundation Receives $110,000 GRANT FROM RBC BLUE WATER PROJECT™
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Annapolis-based Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) has been selected to receive a $110,000 leadership grant from the RBC Blue Water Project™. The grant, which will be distributed over a two-year span, will help fund CBF’s work to restore the Chesapeake Bay’s natural filters for clean water, as well as educate participants, citizens and local communities on the importance of protecting habitat, natural resources and water quality. “This $110,000 leadership grant will certainly make a significant impact on our work to improve water quality and engage residents in community-based stewardship actions,” said William C. Baker, president of CBF. “Our organization thrives because of the partnerships with companies such as RBC, who remain committed to environmental initiatives regardless of economic climate.” Now in its fourth year, the RBC Blue Water Project™ is a wide-ranging, multi-year program helping to foster a culture of water stewardship in North America and abroad, so that people have clean fresh water today and tomorrow. Since 2007, the program has committed more than $28 million in single and multi-year grants to over 380 organizations. RBC’s partnership with CBF is a natural fit because the organization’s focus on restoration projects that protect natural resources and demonstrate water quality improvements. "We know that industry, government, business and individuals can all play a part in watershed protection,” said John Taft, CEO of RBC Wealth Management-US. "We are thrilled to help the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s mission of sustaining the Chesapeake Bay’s ecosystem and engaging communities in making a lasting impact."
